“I would like to return 3 grenade launchers, please”

I am sure there are places in the world where that would be a natural sentence, but still, when it’s the school police saying it something is wrong IMHO.

But of course this happens in USA. And the Los Angeles Unified School District’s police force will keep the 61 rifles and the “Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Armored Vehicle”, even though they will return the grenade launchers.

It’s six years since the events in Ferguson, and the US federal program that transfers surplus equipment from the military to any local police force in the country has only made things worse. At least 22 school systems participate in the program.

The problem here is that when you show up with a rifle to an altercation there is a high risk of that rifle being fired. If you show up with a grenade launcher …
