Why we hate algorithms

I recently bought something for my car and in the process, I did a Google search for items like that. I bought the item the day in a store but that day and the following week, I kept getting ads for such items. Waste of advertising money and just regular creepy advertising algorithms.

Then I started looking for a specific shoe and within hours Youtube’s algorithm suggested a review video of exactly that shoe, from a channel I’ve never watched. On a topic I’ve never watched videos about.

I know adtech companies are getting desperate but this is why we hate those algorithms; there’s a line somewhere between helpful agents and creepy stalking.
