While the Gutenberg editor in WordPress keeps irritating me, I have at least found a way to work around it – and end up in the classic WordPress editor, which I have found new respect for.
In fact, I think there are a couple of things in the classic WordPress editor that I wish I had thought of back when I designed my “own” WYSIWYG editor in the first half of the aughts, or at least while I maintained it in the second half. The most useful one is the paste-a-link-when-you’ve-already-selected-text feature which is very easy and logical. Granted, that would not have made much sense in the context of “my” editor, but it’s very useful.
