The recent announcement from Kanye West and his family about his illness reminded me of something that was on full display in Danish media coverage in the final years of the life of the Prince Consort Henrik: Something was clearly wrong with him and the media was reporting as if nothing was wrong; as entertainment.
And that is not OK.
So, when West announced his candidacy for President of the United States, why was it reported as if it was a serious announcement? It wasn’t. West, however talented he may be, struggles with his mental illness and if his past public announcements haven’t made that clear, I don’t know what possibly could. For example, actually saying it in public?
