Smart cars and surveillance

From the thread from a supposed former IT guy as Tesla:

any connected car is ripe for data harvesting and you (the consumer) should expect it going forward. on that note, china has a law in place that mandates all electric cars send real time telemetry to their government servers […] don’t be surprised if that becomes a mandate in other countries

Not surprised? No, this is entirely predictable. It will start with road taxation, then it will be for IRS surveillance, then social security fraud investigations and finally police investigations. In existing totalitarian states it will be used to control and suppress the population, and in currently democratic states that turn totalitarian the already collected information will be used to remove the opposition.
