Social mobility – we are not doing badly in Denmark

If we look at the part of social mobility that indicates how long it would take to move from the bottom 10% family income to the mean income, Denmark has the shortest time. 2 generations, while the OECD average is somewhere between 4 and 5. Our Scandinavian neighbours are close, with 3 generations. USA is slightly above the OECD average, with 5 generations.

What about our celebrated educational mobility? Scandinavia is at the top again, though Sweden and Finland beat Denmark. USA? Right behind Scandinavia.
