Everyone should have a blog.

But nothing lasts forever and even though WordPress is the giant it is today and seem capable of going on forever, there are no guarantees.

So, as with any other choice of platform, you should consider your exit strategy. I knew that WordPress supported an export of the content and figured that I would be able to do it myself if I needed to, when I selected WordPress back in 2010.

I have mentioned Dave Winer before, who, though I don’t always agree with him and sometimes gives the vibe of an angry old man, does have some good points on a regular basis. Recently he asked his audience how one exports content from WordPress and Tumblr and true to his style, made sure everyone would benefit from the knowledge.
